Ill health prevented Elsie joining us at Merrylands or Parramatta but at last year’s ZineWest, Carol Amos read her poem The Lake. One of Elsie’s timeless stories has also been published in the NEW Writers’ Group Anthology. Elsie was an accomplished artist and illustrated her own writing. She will be especially missed by her long term writing friends at St. Marys Creative Writing Group. The St Mary’s members are dedicating their next anthology to Elsie.

The following writers all have one entry selected to appear in the print zine ZineWest 10.

Other entrants have been invited to present their work live at ZW Word which follows the official launch on Saturday 9th October. We will soon post details of the ZW10 launch at Connect Studios Parramatta (12:30 for 1pm) and the following event ZW Word at 3:50pm at Mars Hill Cafe.

G.J. Barbagallo E. Bartulovich A. Benjamin
D. Toohey G. Toseski E. Trimboli
P. Weerakoon W. Wiebelitz J. Wrightson

The ZineWest title was created for the NEW Writers’ Group Anthology in 2006. The following year we divided our publishing energy into two zines: our in-house anthology for NWG Inc members and a second zine for all new Western Sydney writers (which took over the title ZineWest).

Since the first ZW competition in 2006, many writers have entered over several years but we’ve found only one writer, E. (Jenny) Trimboli, who has been published in all editions including this year. The Editor has nominated Mrs Trimboli for an editors’ award. An additional editors’ award may also be announced at the launch on 9th October in addition to the awards and prizes nominated by the judge.

Meanwhile, the committee advises members that NWG Inc’s Anthology’s publication and launch has been delayed by other commitments, however, we’ve had some great contributions and we’ll finalise the layout and print off our 2010 edition later in the year. A launch date will be advised.
