We are delighted to bring together members of NWG Inc and friends in a 2020 Anthology. Due to a very tight budget this year, C.A. Broadribb has prepared a zine similar to past printed editions that is available as a free pdf. NWG Inc Anthology 2020 will be uploaded to the National Library of Australia as part of our ISSN 2201-2699 series. There will be readings from the anthology at a zoom meeting on Saturday, 12 December. Contact us if you’d like to attend. The pdf will be moved to the ezine shortly. Cover image by Dannielle Viera.
ZineWest 2020 will soon go to the printers, and in September we gather works for our in-house anthology from NWG Inc members and Western Sydney colleagues. Pop Up Zine takes a break with two exceptions:
Haiku: we’d like to see more from Western Sydney writers – but all Australians welcome. Send up to ten and we select up to five. Haiku Entry Form
Reflections on childhood stories: Your brief adult reflection (500 words max) on a story of your childhood that had lasting impact. Artelle Lenthall has started us with a positive comment but we expect a range of responses. Artelle has also supplied an illustration but we usually assign a random, peaceful image.) PUZ Entry Form
Our 2020 Members Anthology is now open! Since 2005 we have published a print anthology, but finances are tighter in this Covid-19 year and we will publish the digital file only. However, it does mean we can have colour images throughout, not just on the cover. NB All our zines are uploaded to National Edeposit.
Free entry for members; $10 admin fee for invited non-members.
We are looking for short prose (up to 800 words) poems (up to 60 lines) Short drama or comic/cartoon are welcome also. Plus we include focused images that reproduce well on an A5 page.

We hope we’ve found a way to continue this lovely little journal which has included some great writing and images over the years:
• We have reduced the financial membership fee to $35 which means there will be no automatic inclusion of a free Anthology.
• Regular gatherers as well as financial members are invited to enter.
• We ask all entrants to pay $10 in advance for their first copy and indicate they are happy to purchase at least one further copy to share everyone’s talent.

Dear all! Saturday 28th November 3-5 pm will be our last gathering in 2015 and a farewell to Merrylands Community Centre. We meet as usual in the Miller Street room (buzz at main entrance to Centre, 17 Miller Street Merrylands) On the Agenda is our AGM (super quick) and readings from the 2015 Anthology, plus a short Open Mic (bring small pieces). Everyone is welcome to continue on at 5:30 pm for an early (pay your own way) dinner at the Billabong pub which is close by in Merrylands Road. They have all day specials starting from $10.
Next year we will commence gatherings in Parramatta – February to November – at the very central venue of Future Campus (University of New England) in Church Street. We hope to keep closely to our usual 2nd and 4th Saturday afternoons, but will issue a detailed set of dates in January when the university finalises its calendar. This connection to a university campus is very exciting for us all and we look forward to a great year.
New Writers’ Group Inc Anthology – an annual Print zine for financial members – due 24th August
2015 Editor is Robyne Young. We encourage members to workshop their pieces at the Parramatta Gatherings before or immediately after submission. Please read the guidelines and send your entries with a completed form (see form for details)

DEAR FINANCIAL MEMBERS (and anyone planning to be one:)

This year we hope to publish an anthology that includes work from all our financial members. We know you are a diverse and inventive bunch of people, so send us your best! (See forms below) The stronger the work you send us, the better known the anthology will be and the better it is for all the entrants. We’re counting on you! Those of you have spare ZineWest entries, if you’re not sending them off to a competition, why not enter them in the anthology? There will be editing, and we’d love illustrations if you have them. The anthologies will sell at $10 and no, we can’t hand out free copies. Your membership fees are hard at work supporting basics like this website, our PO box, our insurance (you do get two free special guest tutorials though). The anthology is launched 22nd November which will be our break-up party for 2014 and our AGM. DUE DATE IS MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 24TH AUGUST
