This is our fourteenth year. A good number of our past entrants have graduated to trade publication and we hope the same for all writers who entrust their work to us. We print publish around 30 writers and ten visual artists, plus a further ten writers are invited to present their work at an Open Mic comp. We welcome a range of styles and subjects. ZW is a good place for those shorter works not necessarily suited to a bigger competition. All works selected for print publication are forwarded to the judge, Luke Carman (An Elegant Young Man, Intimate Antipathies). Prizes include $400 (first place) and Giramondo Titles. We look forward to reading your work! NB The art entry form will be available in May.
Entries are open for our 2019 anthology. Financial members of NWG Inc and regular gatherers are welcome to contribute. The anthology is a self-funding group project. Entries due 31st August NWGAnthoForm_2019

What has changed in 2018?
We hope we’ve found a way to continue this lovely little journal which has included some great writing and images over the years:
• We have reduced the financial membership fee to $35 which means there will be no automatic inclusion of a free Anthology.
• Regular gatherers as well as financial members are invited to enter.
• We ask all entrants to pay $10 in advance for their first copy and indicate they are happy to purchase at least one further copy to share everyone’s talent.
LE Armbruster won ZW17 – who will win $400 in 2018? We want to read your best short works of prose, poetry, drama, cartoon. You need to be at least 16 years old and not yet had a sole author trade publication. ZineWest gives you a great chance of being print published or invited to ZW Word – a spoken word comp with prizes. If you are an artist, we’d love to hear from you too – we publish art by around 10 visual artists in the zine.
Writing due 27 May, 2018
